The Quarry

Introduction

Quarry Echoes, entities that bear both human and animal features, live their afterlife in constant struggle. They are most commonly described as being in desperate need of something. Whether it is to escape a situation or acquire something (or someone) Quarry are intensely driven to satisfy their needs. They also tend to have singular minds and focused and direct personalities.

Appearance

Quarry appearances vary enormously, and exhibit far more depth than that of other Genres. Though their faces are most often ostensibly human, their bodies tend to bend and contort to assume the more grand transition to animal countenance.  The Quarry tend to take their forms quite seriously, believing themselves to be closer to creation than other Genres. These examples may offer inspiration for the appearance of a Quarry:

• A bullish Quarry may have large horns growing from their temples and hooved feet.
• A feline Quarry may have a set of cat ears, claws, or even a tail. Likewise, they may be partially coated in rich fur. They may also be partial to naps.
• An avian Quarry may have taloned feet and feathered limbs. It should be noted that no Quarry in the long memory of Rumor has ever achieved flight.
• A reptilian Quarry may have scaled skin and an elongated mouth with sharp teeth. They may also favor prolonged rests in warm places.
• A canid Quarry may have a tail with a mind of its own and long gnashing teeth. They may also be partially clothed in coarse fur.

Why would someone become a Quarry?

Whether stemming from demise by an animal attack, being hunted down like prey, or possessing a deep kinship with a specific creature, these Echoes carry within them a fusion of two worlds. They can also be people who possess a distinct predator or prey relationship with something else inside of Rumor. Their forms are as varied as the animals they mirror, manifesting diverse appearances that intertwine the human and the animal in an intricate dance. Some people come in as Quarrys, others slowly Genre shift into them as they make friends within the city and form loyalties.

Quarry Echoes safeguard their haven – a sanctuary where they can fully embrace their primal instincts and exchange experiences. Within this space, they symbolize unity, merging the human and animal elements in a harmonious blend. They forge connections with kindred spirits who grasp the essence of the untamed and form tribes.
